Create a public event
A public event is a one-off session that shows on your public schedule after you publish it, like a workshop, masterclass, or special class. Attendees book and pay through your normal Ferb checkout, or you can send them to an external booking page.
Use this when you want anyone to find and book the event. For a hidden event, see Create a private-link event or Create a host-paid event.
You need the owner, manager, or staff role. Staff can create the event but cannot publish it.
Before you start
Have at least one location and one room/resource set up. Room is required.
For a paid event, have your tax slots configured so you can pick the right one.
Steps
1. In the sidebar, go to Schedule -> Events.
2. Click Create event.
3. Choose Public and click Next.
4. Under When & where, set the Location, Date, Start and End time, and Room/resource. A Conflicts note warns you if the room is already booked in that slot.
5. Under Details, enter a Title. Optionally set Capacity (leave empty to use the room's capacity), assign a staff owner, and add a description or an internal note.
6. Under Payment, choose how attendees book:
- Ferb checkout - turn on Attendee checkout, set the Ticket price, and pick a Tax slot. Leave the price empty to keep the event free.
- External booking - enter the external booking URL. Ferb shows the event and sends the booking click to that site; Ferb checkout is turned off.
7. Optionally add up to four FAQs.
8. Click Create draft.
What happens
The event is saved as a draft. It does not appear on your public schedule yet. It goes live only when you publish the schedule week - see Publish an event to make it live.
Notes
An event is a single occurrence, not a repeating class. To run it on several dates, create one event per date.
Capacity left empty means the room's capacity is used.
External booking is public-only and must be an https:// link.
Troubleshooting
The event is not on the public schedule. It is still a draft; publish the schedule week (owner or manager).
You cannot publish. Only owners and managers can publish; ask one to publish your draft.
The room shows a conflict. Another item uses that room in the slot; pick a different room or time.
