Use Ferb with Claude or ChatGPT
Ferb is available as a Claude connector and a ChatGPT app. Once connected, you can ask questions about schedules, bookings, customers, memberships, payments, invoices, and studio performance without exporting spreadsheets or building a report first.
The connector only works after you approve access in Ferb. You decide which studio, locations, data types, and customer fields the AI client may use.
Before you start
You need:
A Ferb owner or admin account.
Access to the studio you want to connect.
A Claude or ChatGPT account.
Staff users can connect only after a studio owner or admin grants them API/AI access in Ferb.
What the connector can do
The connector is read-only. Claude or ChatGPT can help you inspect data, summarize trends, and answer operational questions, but it cannot change anything in Ferb.
It can read approved data such as:
Analytics and performance metrics.
Locations, rooms, teachers, classes, sessions, and appointments.
Customers, customer tags, bookings, memberships, credit balances, and access passes.
Products, membership plans, orders, invoices, and payments.
It cannot:
Create, update, cancel, or delete bookings.
Charge cards, issue refunds, or change invoices.
Send messages to customers.
View data from another studio.
See customer identity or contact fields unless you explicitly allow them.
Give a staff user API/AI access
Owners and admins can authorize MCP clients directly. For other staff users, create an allowance first.
Open the Ferb dashboard.
Go to Settings > API and AI settings.
Find Create API/AI allowance.
Choose the staff user.
Choose the maximum data access level:
Aggregated analytics: metrics and totals only.
Redacted drilldown: operational records with customer identity hidden.
Customer identity: customer names and identities, with contact fields hidden.
Customer contact fields: customer identity plus email and phone fields where available.
Choose All locations or Selected locations.
Choose the resources the user may authorize.
Optional: set an expiry date.
Select Create allowance.
The allowance is a ceiling. The user still needs to approve the actual Claude or ChatGPT connection, and that connection cannot exceed the allowance you created.
Connect Claude
Open Claude.
Go to Claude's connector directory.
Search for Ferb.
Choose Connect.
Continue to Ferb sign-in.
Review the Ferb consent screen.
Choose the studio, locations, resources, and customer fields Claude may access.
Approve the connection.
After approval, Claude can answer questions using only the Ferb data included in that connection. The live Claude listing handles the connector details for you.
Connect ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT.
Go to ChatGPT's apps directory.
Search for Ferb.
Open the Ferb app.
Choose Connect.
Continue to Ferb sign-in.
Review the Ferb consent screen.
Choose the studio, locations, resources, and customer fields ChatGPT may access.
Approve the connection.
After approval, ChatGPT can answer questions using only the Ferb data included in that connection. The live ChatGPT app handles the connector details for you.
Choose the right access level
Use the narrowest access level that still answers the questions you want to ask.
For weekly business summaries, start with Aggregated analytics.
For class planning, roster review, attendance, or product questions, use Redacted drilldown.
For marketing analysis that needs customer names, use Customer identity.
Use Customer contact fields only when the AI client needs email or phone fields. For most operational summaries, it does not.
Example questions
Try questions like:
Show booking and attendance metrics for this month by day.
List this week's upcoming classes and sessions, grouped by location and teacher.
Find recent bookings from the last 7 days and summarize cancellations and no-shows.
List my active membership plans and the products customers can buy.
Show invoices and payments issued this month.
Manage or revoke access
You can remove access at any time.
To disconnect a Claude or ChatGPT client:
Open the Ferb dashboard.
Go to Settings > API and AI settings.
Find Connected MCP clients.
Select Disconnect for the client you want to revoke.
To remove a staff user's ability to connect MCP clients:
Open Settings > API and AI settings.
Find the user's allowance.
Revoke the allowance.
Revoking a client stops that specific connection. Revoking an allowance prevents the staff user from creating new MCP connections under that allowance.
Troubleshooting
I see "Request access" in the integration store
Your current Ferb account is not allowed to authorize that connector yet. Ask a studio owner or admin to grant API/AI access in Settings > API and AI settings.
Claude or ChatGPT asks me to sign in again
Sign in with the Ferb account that belongs to the studio you want to connect. If you belong to multiple studios, confirm that you are authorizing the right one on the Ferb consent screen.
The AI says it cannot see customers or contact details
The connection may not include customer identity or contact fields. Ask an owner or admin to review the allowance and, if appropriate, approve a connection with a broader data access level.
The AI says a tool or resource is unavailable
The connected studio may not have that Ferb module enabled, or the connection may not include that resource. Review the allowed resources in Settings > API and AI settings.
I want to reduce what the AI can access
Disconnect the current MCP client, then create a narrower allowance or approve a new connection with fewer locations, resources, or customer fields.
Security and privacy
Ferb MCP connections use OAuth. Claude or ChatGPT receives an access token only after you approve the Ferb consent screen.
Every connection is scoped to:
The approved studio.
The approved locations.
The approved resources.
The approved data access level.
The approved customer identity and contact-field settings.
The connector is read-only in V1. It is designed for analysis, reporting, and operational review, not for changing studio data.
