Configure tax settings
Ferb calculates VAT for you using tax slots that follow local tax law. You do not set VAT rates yourself. Your job is to make sure each product is assigned to the right tax slot, and to choose how price is handled for age-based slots. Calculating and paying tax remains your studio's legal responsibility.
You need the owner or manager role to change tax assignments. Add a legal entity first, since tax is set per legal entity.
Open your tax settings
Go to Settings -> Tax. If you have more than one legal entity, pick the one you want at the top.
There are two cards:
Tax slots - the rates and rules available to your studio. Ferb maintains these presets according to local law, so they are read-only.
Product assignments - where you assign each product to a tax slot.
Assign a product to a tax slot
In Product assignments, find the product under Class types, Appointment types, Products, or Open access services.
Choose its Tax slot from the dropdown.
You can also set a product's tax slot on the product's own page. Most products use a standard-rate slot.
The Danish age-based fitness rule
In Denmark, fitness services are 25% VAT for members aged 30 and over, and exempt (0%) for members under 30. Ferb handles this with a rule slot ("Age-varied fitness"). Assign your fitness products to that slot and Ferb applies the right rate per member automatically, based on the member's age when they buy.
For a rule slot, choose a price mode:
Fixed gross - the customer pays the same price whatever their age; your net revenue varies by age.
Fixed net - your net revenue is the same; members under 30 pay less and members 30+ pay more.
Good to know
You cannot edit VAT rates, codes, or rules. Those are presets Ferb keeps up to date.
The tax on each invoice line is locked in when the invoice is issued.
Ferb provides the configuration but does not file or pay taxes for you.
Troubleshooting
"Add a legal entity first." Tax is scoped to a legal entity; create one under Settings first.
You cannot change a product's slot. Changing assignments needs the owner or manager role; staff can view only.
A product's tax looks wrong. Check which tax slot it is assigned to, and for age-based products, the price mode.
