Create gift cards
Set up a gift card product that customers can buy from your booking site. This is different from giving someone a free card yourself (see Issue complimentary gift cards).
You need the owner, admin, or manager role.
Create the gift card product
1. Go to Products -> Gift Cards and click Create gift card product. This appears when you do not have one yet.
2. Fill in the form:
- Basics - a Name, the Legal entity it sells under, and an optional internal Description.
- Value - add the Amount variants customers can choose from (the first is the default). Choose a Classification: Multi-purpose (VAT applied when the card is spent) or Single-purpose (VAT applied at sale).
- Tax - choose the tax slot.
- Redemption scope - what the card can be spent on: Everything sold, Specific locations, or Specific services - plus a short Scope summary shown to customers.
- Code & delivery - an optional Code prefix and the Code length.
- Validity - Validity (days) (leave blank for no expiry) and a Claim window (days) after expiry.
3. Click Save.
Publish it
A new gift card product is saved as a draft. Open it and click Publish to put it on sale. To publish, it needs a scope summary and a tax slot.
Good to know
Customers choose from the amounts you set; there is no free-entry amount.
You have one active gift card product at a time. Once one exists, edit it from its card rather than creating another.
The legal entity cannot be changed after the product is created.
A gift card product is the buyable item. An individual issued card (bought or given) is separate and appears under Issued cards.
Troubleshooting
There is no Create gift card product button. You already have one; open it with Edit on its card.
Publish is blocked. Add a redemption scope summary and a tax slot, and make sure the scope is not a custom one.
No tax slots are available. Configure a tax slot on the legal entity first (see Configure tax settings).
